It has been a long-term passion of mine to help others. Growing up in a law enforcement family that has over 100 years of service in the field we were taught to live our lives with integrity and to have compassion and empathy for others.

My father, retired Chief of Police with 34 years of service, is one who lives his life with integrity, and who took pride in compassionately serving his community. My father’s badge number was 206. In order to honor him and his exemplary service it was incredibly important to me to create a counseling practice that emphasizes the values he demonstrated as an officer and a father.

It is my goal to provide a space where our first responders will be met with understanding, respect, and a safe, comfortable, & confidential environment to restore their resiliency and mental well-being so that they are able to continue to serve their communities.

Behind 206

During the early parts of my career, I quickly noticed the impact that having compassion and empathy for others had on the mental wellness of our First Responders. In addition, I have seen the stress that spouses and family members endure due to the professions of their loved ones.

These highly stressful fields require high compassion & empathy, which can often lead to compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, depression, anxiety, sleep problems, and/or PTSD. It is also very common for individuals dealing with these symptoms to turn to substances and alcohol to cope.

It is incredibly hard for those who pride themselves on serving others to ask for help themselves, often feeling like a failure or weak, or feeling like they have nowhere to turn that is confidential & private due to the role they play in their community. Often first responders have the fear of a negative impact to their career if they ask for help or are concerned that they will be met with someone who does not understand the high demands of the job and the role that they play.

These fears can often contribute to ongoing significant symptoms that can worsen and can even include first responder or provider suicide.

Don’t let it get to that point.

You are essential to your community.

Don’t struggle alone in silence.
